ChIM Access

The ChIM Access tab is used to customize the functions enabled within the database. ChIM Access is also used to designate the data tabs available in the Chemical Information Gateway.

Activate Expiring Chemical Alerts

Alerts can be defined within the database to notify a designated user when a chemical is approaching its expiration date.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. In the Alerts box, check the box next to Expiring Chemicals. A pop-up window will notify the alert is active.
  6. Close the pop-up window.
  7. Click the Scroll icon next to Expiring Chemicals.
  8. Define the alert parameters in the pop-up window.
  9. Click Save. A pop-up window will confirm Expiring Chemicals Alert Settings Saved.

Edit Expiring Chemical Alerts

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the Scroll icon next to Expiring Chemicals.
  6. Define new alert parameters in the pop-up window.
  7. Click Save. A pop-up window will confirm Expiring Chemicals Alert Settings Saved.

Disable Expiring Chemical Alerts

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. In the Alerts box, check the box next to Expiring Chemicals. A pop-up window will notify the alert is disabled.
  6. Close the pop-up window.
  7. Click Save.

Inventory Min/Max Alerts

Alerts may be defined within the database to notify when a minimum and/or maximum threshold amount has been reached for an inventory item.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. In the Alerts box, check the box next to Inventory Min/Max. A pop-up window will notify the alert is active.
  6. Close the pop-up window.
  7. Click the Scroll icon next to Inventory Min/Max. The Choose Location screen will open.
  8. Choose the location by typing into the search box, clicking on the location from the dropdown menu or clicking the icon to access the location tree.
  9. Click Select. The Current Min/Max Inventory Settings for the location screen will open.
  10. Click Add New Threshold.
  11. Search for the item.
    • Searching by Stock Number, Chem Name, Manufacturer, Supplier, and/or CAS# will return a results grid.
    • Searching by the Chem Tag # will return a specific item.
    • The search can be narrowed to Local Inventory Items or widened to include the entire active catalog.
  12. Select the item from the results grid.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Click the Pencil icon to edit the minimum or maximum level that will trigger the alert.
  15. Click the Save icon to save the alert levels.
  16. Click Alert Settings.
  17. In the pop-up window, select the alert parameters.
  18. Click Save.

Delete Inventory Min/Max Alerts

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the Scroll icon next to Inventory Min/Max. The Choose Location screen will open.
  6. Choose the location by typing into the search box, clicking on the location from the dropdown menu or clicking the icon to access the location tree.
  7. Click Select. The Current Min/Max Inventory Settings for the location screen will open.
  8. Click Trashcan icon next to the alert.
  9. Confirm deletion in the pop-up window.

Disable All Inventory Min/Max Alerts

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. In the Alerts box, check the box next to Inventory Min/Max. A pop-up window will notify the alert is disabled.
  6. Close the pop-up window.
  7. Click Save.

Enable Tare Weight Calculations

The Tare Calculation function allows users to report the following values in either grams or kilograms.

  • Tare Weight: the weight of the lid, container, or container + lid.
  • Net Weight:  the weight of the contents of the container.
  • Gross Weight: the sum of the tare and net weight values.

The Tare Calc button on the Add, Update(Dispose) and Restore screens will only be functional if Tare Weight Calculations have been enabled.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box next to Tare Weight Calculations to enable the function.
  6. Choose if the values are to be reported in either grams or kilograms.
  7. Click Save.  The tare calc button will now be enabled.

Enable Consumption/Refill Options

The amount remaining in a container may be updated using the consumption/refill tab on the view/update screen. To use the consumption and/or refill options, both functions must be enabled. Consumption and refill functionalities operate independent of one another and can be individually enabled.

Note: An item must be designated as Refillable when the record is added to the system.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the boxes next to Consumption and Refillable Containers to enable the functions.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and the consumption/refill tab on the view/update screen will be enabled.

Enable Dispensing

Containers may be linked with a parent/child relationship using the dispensing function. The link can be used for searching or historical purposes.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box next to Link-Split Containers to enable dispensing.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and the dispensing option will now be available in the search area of the add screen.

Enable Mixture Tracking

Mixtures may be tracked from the chemical information gateway tab within the edit catalog screen.  Ingredients and the proportions of a mixture may be added to the catalog record. The ability to record ingredients for a mixture will only be visible if mixture tracking is enabled.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box next to Mixture Tracking to enable the function.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and the function will be enabled on the chemical information tab of the catalog edit screen.

Enable Chemical Information Gateway Options

Data within the chemical information gateway pertains to all substances that share a CAS number.  If a no CAS number is available, the information will pertain to all substances that share the same product number and vendor. The available options may be customized from the ChiM access tab.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box(es) next to the desired items.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and each item enabled will be available in the chemical information gateway.

Note: MSDS documents can now be associated with catalog records using the Document Management functionality.  Any MSDS documents stored within the MSDS link area of the database will be transferred into the catalog record’s item documents tab in a future update.  Please consider adding any new MSDS documents to the catalog record rather than as a scanned MSDS.

Enable SDS Widget

SDS documents are linked to inventory records that share a CAS number. The SDS Widget allows for the addition of SDS documents when new inventory records are added and/or review of current documents present within the database.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box next to SDS under the Widget heading.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and the widget will be available on the add screen.

Enable SDS Management from Search Pages

SDS documents are linked to inventory records that share a CAS number. When enabled, SDS documents may be managed from search pages.

  1. Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify System Settings.
  2. Choose the appropriate Module.
  3. Click Settings on the menu on the left side of the screen under the Setup heading.
  4. Click the ChIM Access tab.
  5. Click the box next to Manage SDS Documents from Search pages to enable the function.
  6. Click Save.  The confirmation message Data Saved will appear and the function will be available on search screens.
