MC3300-Physical Inventory

Four items are required to complete a field scan using a barcode scanner.

  1. The Process ID from a physical inventory process.
  2. A fully charged barcode scanner.
  3. The User Tag for the person conducting the field scan. User tags may be entered manually or scanned. Print User Tags
  4. The Location Tag for each location and sub-location contained within the physical inventory process. Location tags may be entered manually or scanned. Print Location Tags

Once the scan is complete, copy the files from the barcode scanner to a designated desktop folder.

Files may be deleted from the barcode scanner after the files are transferred to the computer.

MC3300 Field Scan

  1. Charge the MC3300 scanner.
  2. Check that Date and Time are correct. Update if necessary. MC3300-Set Up
  3. On the MC33 scanner, Swipe Up to unlock.
  4. Tap the VIM Icon on the home screen or tap the caret (^) to open the App Drawer to access the VIM application. Tap to select.
  5. Scan or enter User Tag.
  6. Tap Start.
  7. Tap Physical Inventory.
  8. Enter Process ID.
  9. Tap Continue.
  10. Enter or scan Location.
  11. Tap Continue.
  12. Enter or scan Item Tags.
    • Locations must be updated within the scanner each time the physical scan location is changed.
  13. When the scan is complete, tap the Home icon.
  14. Tap Export Data.
  15. Select Physical Inventory Data.
    • To view the scanned items, tap View.
    • Click Back to Export to return to the export screen
  16. Tap Export Data. The Data Export Results will list the physical inventory process ID, number of records exported and the file name.
  17. The export will be saved as a .txt file in the Download/VIMHandheld folder on the scanner.

Update Location

If the physical inventory process includes sub-locations in addition to parent locations, particular attention must be paid to the location entered into the MC3300 during the field scan.

Records scanned using an alternate location will populate the Relocated tab within the physical inventory process. The error can be corrected prior to closing the physical inventory process, if it is recognized. If the error is not recognized during the reconciliation process, all mis-scanned items will be transferred to the alternate location within the database.

  1. On the physical inventory screen, tap the pencil icon next to Location.
  2. Scan or enter the new location.
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. Confirm the correct location is listed on the physical inventory screen prior to resuming the scan.
  5. Scan items. Check that the correct location is associated with the items.

Review Scanned Data Prior to Export

Scanned data can be reviewed prior to export to ensure all expected locations are listed.

  1. Tap the Home icon.
  2. Tap Export Data.
  3. Select Physical Inventory Data.
  4. Tap View.
  5. Tap Back to Export to return to the export screen.

Copy Scanner Files

  1. Connect the scanner cradle to a desktop/laptop via USB cable.
  2. Connect cradle to a power source.
  3. On the computer, open Windows Explorer.
  4. Select MC33 from the This PC area of the navigation pane on the left side of the window.
    • Note: initially the folder will be empty.
  5. On the MC33 scanner, Swipe Up to unlock.
  6. Swipe Down from the top of the MC33 screen
  7. Tap to select the USB charging this device notification.
  8. Tap to select Transfer files.
    • Note: The MC33 device folder on the computer will now show available storage.
  9. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Download folder within the MC33 device storage. Double-click to open the VIMHandheld folder.
  10. Copy the .txt file containing the scanned data.
  11. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the destination folder.
  12. Paste the .txt file.
