SDS Widget
SDS documents are linked to all inventory records that share a CAS number. The SDS widget allows for the addition of new SDS and/or review of current SDS present within the database. The SDS widget can be accessed from the Add screen, View/Update screen, or Catalog Edit screen. The SDS the widget can be enabled from the settings menu. ChIM Access
Upload Local SDS File-Add Screen
- Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Add Inventory.
- Choose the appropriate Module.
- Click Add from the menu on the left side of the home screen.
- Search for and choose the item to be added to the inventory, enter tag number, location, current user and department. Add Inventory
- Click the Drop SDS to attach or browse area within the widget to open an explorer window. Navigate to the file location. Double click to select file. The widget will expand for more options.

- Or drag and drop the appropriate file into the widget. The widget will expand for more options.

- Or click the double diagonal arrows to expand the widget.

- Within the pop-up screen, click the Drop SDS to attach or browse area to choose the appropriate SDS document or drag and drop documents into this area to attach.
- Enter the Title and Description for the SDS. The title and file name should include the vendor name, catalog number and identify the file as a safety data sheet to allow for product specific association. The description should provide the information contained within the file name and also include the reagent name.
- Example file name: Aldrich_139386_SDS
- Example title: Aldrich 139386 SDS
- Example description: SDS for Aldrich product # 139386, hexane
- The document revision date may also be included, but is not required information.
- Click Upload and Save. A pop-up will confirm a successful upload.

Upload Local SDS File-View/Update Screen
- Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Lookup Inventory and Manage SDS Documents.
- Choose the appropriate Module.
- Click View/Update from the menu on the left side of the home screen.
- Search for the item requiring an SDS. View/Update Search
- Click the blue book icon
to open the SDS widget.

- Within the pop-up screen, click the Drop SDS to attach or browse area to choose the appropriate SDS document or drag and drop documents into this area to attach.
- Enter the Title and Description for the SDS. The title and file name should include the vendor name, catalog number and identify the file as a safety data sheet to allow for product specific association. The description should provide the information contained within the file name and also include the reagent name.

- Example title: Aldrich 695092 SDS
- Example description: SDS for Aldrich product # 695092, acetic acid

Upload Local SDS File-Catalog Edit Screen
- Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Modify Chemical Catalog and Manage SDS Documents.
- Choose the appropriate Module.
- Click Catalog to expand the menu on the left side of the home screen.
- Click Edit.

- Search for the item requiring an SDS. Catalog Search
- To find all items missing SDS, set the SDS value to is missing.
- Click the blue book icon
to open the SDS widget.

- Within the pop-up screen, click the Drop SDS to attach or browse area to choose the appropriate SDS document or drag and drop documents into this area to attach.
- Enter the Title and Description for the SDS. View/Download SDS
- Log in with a user name and password that has been granted access to Lookup Inventory and Manage SDS Documents.
- Choose the appropriate Module.
- Click View/Update from the menu on the left side of the home screen.
- Search for the item requiring an SDS. View/Update Search
- Click the blue book icon
to open the SDS widget.

- Click the eye icon
to view or download the desired SDS.
